After Cincinnati Extrusion, now part of the SMS Group, encroached on former parent company Milacron´s (Cincinnati, Ohio / USA; www.milacron.com) US turf last year – see Plasteurope.com Web of 27.01.2005 – Milacron is now strategically placing its similarly named business in Europe. The US group is currently expanding the site of Italian subsidiary Uniloy Milacron (Magenta; www.uniloymilacron.com) to produce twin-screw extruders for its subsidiary Cincinnati Milacron. Spare parts supply also is being concentrated at the Italian site.

In view of "excellent" sales in Europe in the first six months of 2006 and the expiration of the competition restrictions agreed with SMS, Cincinnati Milacron said it wants to get closer to its European customers. Milacron sold Cincinnati Extrusion to SMS in 2000, and in 2005 the manufacturer of machinery for plastic pipe and profile extrusion set up its US headquarters in Kentucky, close to the former parent´s home base.
