More Chinese capacity for ABS, PS, PMMA
Taiwan´s Chi Mei Corporation (Tainan City / Taiwan; www.chimei.com.tw) is investing around USD 200m to expand capacity in mainland China by 2006. At its Zhenjiang plant, ABS capability is to be expanded by 250,000 t/y and PS production by 200,000 t/y. The company also plans to install a PMMA production line with an annual capacity of 50,000 t/y. Following the moves, Chi Mei, which already claims to be world´s largest producer of ABS, will be able to produce 1.5m t/y of ABS and 800,000 t/y of PS. In Europe, the company´s products are distributed by Biesterfeld Plastic (D-20095 Hamburg; www.biesterfeld-plastic.com).
