Asia’s largest plastics trade fair “Chinaplas” (www.chinaplasonline.com) will not take place in 2020 after all. In the end, organiser Adsale (Hong Kong / China; www.adsale.com.hk) has had to cancel the 2020 edition, after first postponing the event to August (see Plasteurope.com of 19.02.2020).

Chinaplas 2021 will take place on 13-16 April 2021 in Shenzhen, Guangdong, at the “Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center” (see Plasteurope.com of 28.01.2020). This is a new venue for the trade show, which has outgrown the site where it normally took place every second year in Guangzhou, Guangdong. The annual event typically alternates between the Southern China location and Shanghai.

Adsale said the coronavirus is now largely under control in China but “poses a high degree of uncertainty globally.” The country wants to prevent a second wave of infections that could arrive from people travelling into China. On 6 April 2020, the government issued a statement on further preventive measures against the coronavirus regarding venues and groups. It contains suggestions that “all kinds of exhibitions have to be stopped for the time being.” Adsale said it is necessarily putting the safety and health of Chinaplas visitors as its top priority, and it will make the necessary arrangements regarding exhibitor and visitor fees that have been paid.
