CHEMTURA
Expansion of distribution agreement with Azelis Americas for flame retardants
US speciality chemicals company Chemtura (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; www.chemtura.com) has expanded its relationship with distributor Azelis Americas (Stamford, Connecticut / USA; www.azelisamericas.com) with effect from 1 February. Azelis Americas is now Chemtura’s sole distributor for its "Great Lakes Solutions" flame retardant products in the US and Canada, replacing Chempoint and Nexeo. The agreement includes the complete brominated and phosphorus flame retardant portfolios in combination with antimony and synergist.
Chad Kessler, commercial director for Great Lakes Solutions in the Americas, said consolidating its distribution channel with Azelis made sense and would allow Chemtura to more efficiently serve all market segments. Dan Gruber, president of CASE [coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers] for Azelis Americas said the flame retardant products from Great Lakes Solutions filled a void in its product offering.
Chemtura is being acquired by German chemical producer Lanxess (Cologne; www.lanxess.com). The US company’s shareholders agreed last month to the takeover, the largest acquisition ever for Lanxess – see Plasteurope.com of 06.02.2017.
