CHEMPHY
First Chinese company to launch high heat engineering polymer range / Materials planned to replace PEEK
By the end of this year, DS Chemphy (Wilmington, Delaware / USA; www.dschemphy.com) plans to launch China’s first range of high heat engineering polymers under the brand name “ChemphySteel” through its 100% subsidiary, the Chinese Dalian Chemphy Chemical Company (Dalian, Liaoning; www.chemphy.com)

The new range encompasses various different alternatives to PEEK, including polyphthalazinone ether ketone (PPEK), polyphthalazinone ether sulfone (SPPEK) and polyphthalazinone ether sulfone ketone (PPESK), all of which are claimed to offer high performance at temperatures of up to 250 °C.

New Chemphy aims to target the aerospace, automotive and E&E markets. The company has started building a 300 t/y pilot plant, due to come on stream later this year.
