CHASE PLASTICS
Distributing Solvay's PTFE micronised powders in North America
The Speciality Polymers division of Solvay (Brussels / Belgium; www.solvay.com) has appointed Chase Plastics (South Bend, Indiana / USA; www.chaseplastics.com) as North American distributor of its “Algoflon L” and “Polymist” PTFE micronised powders. The agreement took effect on 1 January 2017, and will help Solvay meet rising demand for its PTFE additives from regional compounders. Under the terms of the agreement, Solvay will continue to meet direct orders that qualify with its established minimum order quantities, while Chase Plastics will handle small lot orders.
The PTFE micronised powders consist of finely divided, low molecular weight powders that impart PTFE properties into the host material, even in small lot dosages. The characteristics bestowed include enhanced wear, rub and scratch resistance, improved mould release, anti-stick performance and internal lubrication, Solvay said.
