CELANESE
Acquisition of US conductive polymers compounder Cool Polymers
In a purchase aimed at accelerating its growth in the conductive polymers market, Celanese (Dallas, Texas / USA; www.celanese.com) in late October said it had acquired “substantially all of the assets” of conductive polymers compounder Cool Polymers (North Kingstown, Rhode Island / USA; www.coolpolymers.com). Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Cool Polymers is specialised in the LED market. Its portfolio includes a range of engineered materials such as its “CoolPoly” E and D Series of thermally conductive polymers as well as its “CoolPoly” elastomers for conductive and insulative grades. Phil McDivitt, vice president and general manager of Celanese’s Engineered Materials business, said the purchase “will complement Celanese’s expertise in polymer chemistry, compounding operations and part design.”
