The old president of the European chemical industry association Cefic (Brussels; www.cefic.org), Martin Brudermüller, is also its new president: the chairman of the board of chemical giant BASF (Ludwigshafen, Germany; www.basf.com) has been reconfirmed for two more years in office by the group’s general assembly.

His “outstanding leadership qualities, vision and commitment” had brought Cefic forward during the previous term, said Cefic director general Marco Mensink. Drawing attention to the challenges the chemical industry is expected to face in the coming years, Brudermüller said, “We have to reinvent how we produce and what we produce in order to achieve the goals of the European Green Deal.”
