Number one in "own-label" household film products / Turnover of DM 350m
Following its acquisition of the UK company Poly-Lina (Halesfield 11, Telford, GB-Shropshire TF7 4LZ) – see Plasteurope.com 14, 1996 – CeDo Gesellschaft für Beteiligungen mbH (Seedammweg 55, D-61352 Bad Homburg) now regard themselves as the leading European supplier of "own-label" household film and liners for supermarkets. In talks with PIE, CeDo managing Director, Michael D. Wilkens, emphasised that the acquisition of Poly-Lina was primarily to strengthen the company's position in the EC market. The group now has a combined throughput of 70,000 t/y (including that of Poly-Lina).
CeDo is the holding company for the packaging division of Delton AG (D-61352 Bad Homburg), a diversified private industrial group. Its flexible packaging operations include the Belgian company Paclan (Europarklaan 10, B-3530 Houthalen), which manufactures a similar product range to Poly-Lina. The group is also involved in the specialist PA/PE multilayer packaging sector for the food industry. Wholly owned subsidiaries are extrusion specialists P & E Verpackungen GmbH (Messerschmittstr. 7, D-87437 Kempten), PK Druck und Verpackungen GmbH (Westendstr. 7, D-87488 Betzigan), which specialises in printing and laminating, and Ceta SA Emballages Flexibles (CH-1896 Vouvry) which manufactures for the bag and printing sector.
The CeDo concern achieved a turnover of DEM 350m with a total of 1,500 employees. The lion's share, of just under DEM 300m, comes from the production of film and liners by Paclan and Poly-Lina.
