Specialty label maker CCL Industries (Toronto, Canada; www.cclind.com) said it has signed a deal to buy Partners s.r.l. Italy (“Pouch Partners”) from Capri Sun (Zug, Switzerland; www.capri-sun.com) unit Pouch Partners AG (Baar, Switzerland; www.pouchpartners.com) for CAD 44 mn (EUR 30.5 mn) in cash.

Pouch Partners supplies flexible film materials for pouch forming to Pouch Partners AG, a unit of kids drinks manufacturer Capri Sun. In 2022, sales reached CAD 104 mn and adjusted EBITDA was CAD 6.8 mn.

Varese-based Pouch Partners has been operating as a family-owned business for the last 50 years and has been part of the Capri Sun Group since October 2017.

The new business will trade as CCL Specialty Pouches and become part of CCL Label’s Food & Beverage division in Europe.

CCL Industries said if its latest investment is successful in Europe, „there could be interest to develop the product line globally“, alongside its decorative label portfolio.

With over 25.000 employees worldwide, 205 facilities in 43 countries, CCL has generated sales of around CAD 6.4 bn (EUR 4.4 bn) and an operating income of CAD 934 mn (EUR 647 mn) in 2022. The group which includes CCL, Avery, Checkpoint and Innovia is by its own account the world’s largest converter of pressure sensitive and specialty extruded film materials for decorative, instructional, functional and security applications.
