Acquisition of Demes France complete / Plastic layer pads service centre for food industry in Europe
German transport packaging group Cartonplast (Dietzenbach; www.cartonplast.com) has completed the acquisition of Demes France (Dagneux), the French branch of Demes Palettenlogistik (Stadtlohn / Germany; www.demes-logistics.com). Cartonplast is a plastic layer pads (PLPs) logistics provider for the European the food and beverage industry. Demes France, in Dagneux nearby Lyon, is a PLPs service centre where the polypropylene layer pads are sorted, cleaned, checked and made available again for the transport of glass containers. Cartonplast says the centre, which opened in 2007, cleans and re-distributes more than 5m PLPs per year.
The centre complements Cartonplast's 14 logistics and service locations in Europe, Russia, Turkey and South Africa. The company says it will play an important role in delivering to customers, such as glass container manufacturer O-I Europe (Vufflens-la-Ville / Switzerland; www.o-i.com), with whom Cartonplast recently signed a long-term service agreement.
