Launch of two universal circular black masterbatch grades for automotive

US carbon black producer Cabot (Boston, Massachusetts; www.cabotcorp.com) said it has expanded its Replasblak product family of universal circular black masterbatches with two new grades suitable for a range of automotive applications including interior, exterior, and under-the-hood parts.

Products in the Replasblak portfolio are made from the company’s Evolve Sustainable Solutions platform of ISCC Plus certified material that delivers sustainable reinforcing carbons and other performance materials, Cabot said.
The grades enable high gloss and high jetness pigmentation, offering superior colour performance and mechanical properties similar to a standard universal black masterbatch, according to the company.

Replasblak reUN5285 leverages a 45% ISCC Plus mass balance certified material made from mechanically recycled polymer. It is suitable for compounding applications in the automotive industry for colouring polyolefins and many engineering plastics.
Replasblak reUN5290 uses a 20% ISCC Plus mass balance certified material made from mechanically recycled polymer. It is suitable for compounding as well as injection moulding and sheet extrusion applications, Cabot said.
