New masterbatch reduces deposits / Could help films processors cut operating costs
Under the trademark "Plaswite PE 7474", Cabot Plastics International (Interleuvenlaan 5, B-3001 Leuven) has brought out a new white masterbatch for use in PE blown films. According to Cabot, a unique feature of this new masterbatch is that it reduces deposits on extrusion jets. Plaswite is claimed better at preventing deposits than its predecessor "PE 7024" which is still on the market, while having similar properties as regards opacity. As it reduces down time, as well as cleaning expenditure, the new product is expected to enable films processors to cut operating costs. The new material is compatible with most PE types, including blends, and therefore can be fed directly into the hopper, says Cabot.
