BUDELPACK
Dutch packaging company acquires competitor Interpak
Packing company Budelpack (Poortvliet / The Netherlands; www.budelpack.com) has acquired its competitor Interpak (Tholen / The Netherlands; www.interpak.nl). The amount of the transaction was not disclosed. Interpak's plant in Tholen will remain, with Interpak managing director and former major shareholder Peter Knipscheer appointed as site manager. He reports to Budelpack managing director Peter Nieuwkerk.
By its own account, Budelpack is one of Europe's largest contract packagers for fast-moving consumer goods – including coffee, tea, chocolate, confectionery, chewing gum, spice mixtures, pet food and fresh produce. With this acquisition, the Dutch packager now has 42 lines that package around 350m products per year. In addition to packaging on fixed lines, Budelpack operates temporary on-site solutions.
Earlier this year at the site of its French partner FM Logistic (Roissy-en-France; www.fmlogistic.com) in Olszowa / Poland, Budelpack commissioned a fully automated packaging line for plastic jars of confectionary. More than EUR 1m was invested at this location.
