German appliances manufacturer builds washing machine factory in Romania
BSH Hausgeräte (BSH, Munich / Germany; www.bsh-group.de) will construct a washing machine plant in the Romanian town of Simeria, for a cost of over one hundred millions euros. A 40-hectare plot has recently been acquired. The Munich-based company aims to begin construction of a production hall, a logistics centre and several administrative buildings no later than in 2018. From 2020, the first washing machines should be rolling off assembly lines, while the peak capacity of 1m units is expected to be reached two years later. BSH will create some 700 jobs with the new Romanian plant.
The new site will be the fourth washing machine factory in Europe and the ninth worldwide. There are assembly plants in Germany, Spain and Poland.
