BRITISH VITA
Repositioning of the thermoplastic sheet business / Common branding introduced
British Vita (Middleton, GB-Manchester M24 2DB) has repositioned its thermoplastic sheet operations to avoid market confusion. Effective 1 January, each sheet company will carry the prefix VTS (Vita Thermoplastic Sheet) to form divisions, such as VTS Royalite, VTS Plastech and VTS Doeflex.

At the same time, the company is undertaking a rationalisation programme to concentrate production of particular types of sheet at individual sites so as to avoid duplication. The sites will operate as centres of excellence for individual materials. All ABS production will be transferred to the Royalite facility in Newbridge, near Edinburgh, and Doeflex, in Redhill, will concentrate on polystyrene sheet for the packaging market and polypropylene. The plant at Widnes will concentrate on PE and the Wrexham facility will make PP sheet for chemical fabrication applications.
