The British Plastics Federation (BPF, London; www.bpf.co.uk) has re-elected Martin Althorpe (Epwin Group) as president until May 2021 (see Plasteurope.com of 22.05.2019). He was confirmed for the role at the BPF’s recent council meeting just ahead of the federation’s annual general meeting. Because of the coronavirus restrictions, the council met online, and the BPF hosted its AGM remotely for the first time in its history.
Althorpe’s focus on closer community engagement, particularly with local members of parliament, will continue. At the AGM, he emphasised that although the virus precludes physical meetings, it is possible to contact local MPs and their assistants online and by phone.
In addition, Karen Drinkwater (JSC Rotational) was elected as BPF vice-president. She has been involved in the plastics industry since 2004, when she co-founded JSC Rotational.
