Brenntag (Mülheim / Germany; www.brenntag.com) has acquired Dipol Chemical International (Kensington, Maryland / USA; www.dipol.net), a polymer and speciality chemicals distributor serving Ukraine, Russia, the Baltic States, Belorussia and Moldova. With sales in 2007 of USD 100m (EUR 67m), Dipol has offices and warehouses in Kiev / Ukraine, Riga / Latvia and St Petersburg and Moscow in Russia. The company serves a variety of industries and acts as distributor for companies including Dow, Ineos, Ineos Nova, DuPont and DSM. Brenntag said that the acquisition will strengthen its presence in eastern Europe and Russia and will raise its profile with suppliers and customers in areas such as food, cosmetics, construction, paint and varnish and oil and gas.
