New PE and PP products launched at Brasilplast / Focus on automotive and packaging applications
Brazilian resins producer Braskem (São Paulo; www.braskem.com.br) has launched several new polyolefin products at “Brasilplast 2011” (see Plasteurope.com of 10.05.2011), including its “HS4506” HDPE range designed for the manufacture of blow moulded fuel tanks. The company said the material has good processability and impact resistance and high resistance to stress cracking. “CP 286”, a high fluidity, PP copolymer, is also designed for the automotive sector. The product is suitable for injection moulding applications and as base resin for compounding applications, and combines excellent stiffness with good impact resistance, even at sub-zero temperatures, according to Braskem.
Products for the packaging industry include “Flexus” 9212XP (extra performance), which is designed for laminating applications. The products have a high resistance to punctures, a low sealing temperature and is able to maintain a stable coefficient of friction, Braskem claims. For frozen food applications, the company has launched LLDPE resin “Pluris” 6301, which is produced with “Spherilene” technology. Properties include high stiffness, good bubble stability and low gel content.
The “TC9008” LDPE resin, pigmented with carbon black, is Braskem’s latest launch in the wires and cables segment. Its main application is as insulation or jacketing for wires and cables in the telecommunications and energy sectors. The carbon black pigment provides protection from UV radiation, the company says.
