BRASKEM
Two PP terpolymer products launched
Thermoplastic resins producer Braskem (São Paulo / Brazil; www.braskem.com.br) has launched two new PP terpolymer products which it says are particularly suitable for automatic packaging. The products, “Symbios” 4102 and Symbios 3102, have been designed for use in external package layers, and have low sealing temperatures, good optical properties and processability and high compatibility with adjacent layers, Braskem claims.
Symbios 4102 is a medium melt flow rate terpolymer, designed for use as a sealing layer in the coextrusion of BOPP films and with an initial sealing temperature of less than 115 ºC on the untreated face. The additive is particularly appropriate for metallization processes, Braskem says. Symbios 3102, which has a higher melt flow rate, was designed to meet the needs of the PP film segment while maintaining the characteristics of Symbios 4102.
With the new product offering, Brazil now has a national option to replace imported product, says Braskem. The resins will also be available to customers throughout Latin America, it adds.
