The British Plastics Federation (BPF, London / UK; www.bpf.co.uk), in partnership with European industry association PlasticsEurope (Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticseurope.org), is organising an online seminar, “Marine Litter: Prevention, Progress & Monitoring”, on 15 June 2021. The webinar will see speakers from the government, plastics industry and international NGOs discuss new projects to deal with plastics waste at the source and explore ways to tackle marine litter, including monitoring microplastics.
The webinar is set to feature initiatives like Operation Clean Sweep, LIFE Blue Lakes Project and Plastic Leak Project, and it includes a discussion on projects currently underway at the Singapore-based non-profit organisation Alliance to End Plastics Waste (AEPW; www.endplasticwaste.org).
Scheduled sessions include “Monitoring Microplastics in the River Mersey”, “Can Our Oceans’ Greatest Threat Be Humanity’s Richest Opportunity”, and “Tackling Plastic Waste at Source in Developing Countries”.
