Group buys German extrusion blow moulding firm / Strategy of international expansion
Metalplast, the plastics division of Italian packaging producer, Bormioli Rocco & Figlio S.p.A. (Via San Leonardo 41, I-43100 Parma) has expanded its capacity by acquiring PolyTech Kunststoff GmbH (Christian-Hammerschmidt-Str 57, D-96355 Tettau-Kleintettau) from Tettauer, part of the Gerresheimer Group (Mörsenbroicher Weg 191, D-40470 Düsseldorf). The deal cost ITL 5bn and is in line with the company's plans to expand internationally and consolidate its presence in the cosmetics, pharmaceutical and food packaging sector. Bormioli's three Italian plants, which carry out injection moulding, extrusion and injection blow moulding, will be strengthened by the extrusion blow moulding expertise of PolyTech Kunststoff. The company has an annual turnover of approximately DEM 23m/y.
