German automotive OEM Boge Rubber & Plastics (Damme; www.boge-rubber-plastics.com) officially opened its new plant in Mexico (see Plasteurope.com of 20.12.2016) on 20 October 2017. At its site in San Luis Potosí, the company will manufacture for all product lines, including vibration technology for chassis and powertrain systems as well as automotive plastic components. Among its first customers are Daimler and VW, and there are already orders for annual sales in the tens of millions until 2029. The start of deliveries is planned for summer 2018.
The automotive supplier is expanding its international presence with the new location in Mexico. "Almost all of our customers already have production facilities in Mexico," says CEO Torsten Bremer. The plant in Mexico will play a significant role in Boge's global manufacturing network. The company currently has 11 production sites in eight countries on four continents.
Investment costs for the new plant were about EUR 5m. The production hall is approximately 5,700 m², of which 1,200 m² is for the plastics sector and 3,600 m² for the rubber-metal sector. In the medium term, 150 to 200 employees will work there in the coming years, commensurate with production ramp-up.
