Strategic alliance for biosuccinic acid products and processes / New large-scale plant in Georgia
Bioplastics technology leaders DaniMer Scientific (Bainbridge, Georgia / USA; www.danimer.com) and Myriant Corp (Quincy, Massachusetts / USA; www.myriant.com) have formed a strategic alliance to manufacture and market biopolymers using Myriant’s biosuccinic acid for production of a “broad range of sustainable, eco-friendly products.”
DaniMer said it has successfully demonstrated production of numerous products based on biosuccinic acid at its Bainbridge development centre and is building a large-scale plant to use as feedstock the acid Myriant will produce at Lake Providence, Louisiana / USA from 2013. The companies tout their cost-effective technology based on renewable resources as creating “reliable and cost advantaged substitutes” for petroleum-based chemicals.
