German distributor extends partnership for BASF TPU to Northern Europe

From April, Biesterfeld (Hamburg, Germany; www.biesterfeld.com) has announced it will exclusively distribute BASF’s (Ludwigshafen, Germany; www.basf.com) thermoplastic polyurethane elastomers under the Elastollan brand in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and the Baltic states. This move is set to expand the existing distribution rights to cover the entire EMEA region, with the exception of the UK & Ireland, as announced by the company.

According to Biesterfeld, Elastollan TPUs are characterised by excellent mechanical properties, offering high resistance to wear, abrasion, tear, and tensile strength. They are also highly resistant to oils, fats, oxygen, and ozone, and exhibit good cold flexibility and high damping capacity.

The product family includes various ester and ether TPUs, as well as UV-stable aliphatic and transparent grades with different hardness levels – from Shore 45 A to 83 D, the company said. The range also includes TPU-based additives and masterbatches, as well as glass fibre-reinforced and flame-retardant grades, it added. These products are used in the extrusion of hoses, cable coatings, belts, films, and profiles. They can also be processed by blow moulding and injection moulding. Key application areas include sectors such as mobility, cables, construction, industry, household and sports equipment, as well as textiles and footwear.
