German distributor Biesterfeld (Hamburg; www.biesterfeld.com) is now marketing elastomer and latex products from US compounder Polytek (Easton, Pennsylvania; www.polytek.com) in Europe, with the exception of the UK. Biesterfeld is thus expanding its portfolio to include silicone, polyurethane, latex, and thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs).  

Customers for Polytek products come from the medical technology, construction, product design, and entertainment sectors. The US company, which focuses on casting and mould-making applications, specialises in materials for training dummies, prostheses, and face masks. The US company employs almost 150 and delivers to more than 50 countries.

Biesterfeld has over 1,100 employees at 50 locations worldwide. The company is divided into three divisions – Plastics, Speciality Chemicals, and Performance Rubber – and reported an annual turnover of EUR 1.38 bn in 2023.
