Deal to distribute DuPont's polyimide semi-finished products

Biesterfeld Plastic, the distribution and services division of Biesterfeld (Hamburg, Germany; www.biesterfeld.com) has been appointed by US materials giant DuPont (Wilmington, Delaware; www.dupont.com) as the distributor for its semi-finished polyimide (PI) products under the Vespel brand in Denmark, Finland, Italy, Norway, and South Africa.

The Vespel product line comprises high-performance polyamide grades that are used in a range of industries including automotive, aerospace, electronics, energy, and industrial, for potential applications such as transmission systems, electrical motors, bushings, compressors, scientific instrumentation, and electronic testing.

Recently, Biesterfeld also announced a partnership with US plastics processor and medical technology specialist Spectrum Plastics (Atlanta, Georgia; www.spectrumplastics.com), which belongs to DuPont. The distributor sells medical components from Spectrum’s plant in Ireland, such as tubes and catheters, in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
