German plastics vendor Biesterfeld (Hamburg; www.biesterfeld.com) and US resin maker Celanese (Irving, Texas; www.celanese.com) have agreed to increase their collaboration in the new year. Biesterfeld is receiving extended distribution rights in the EMEA region for products from Celanese, which is pushing to grow its deals with wholesalers.
The German company said it will continue to hold exclusive distribution rights in most of the EMEA region for the Celanese materials Rynite (PETP), Selar (PA), Zytel HTN (PPA), and Santoprene (TPV). The cooperation between the two companies is to be strengthened significantly in Scandinavia, the UK and Ireland, and the Baltic states, where in the future, Biesterfeld is to offer the aforementioned materials non-exclusively for the first time, with the exception of Santoprene in Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. According to Biesterfeld, a similar arrangement for the aforementioned products applies to the Middle East and Israel, while a mutually exclusive partnership has been agreed to in South Africa.
Biesterfeld’s future non-exclusive distribution rights for Crastin (PBT), Hytrel (TPC), and Zytel (PA) are to be supplemented by the Celanex (PBT), Celanyl (PA), Ecomid (rPA), and Frianyl (PA) complementary product ranges, for which the company is to receive new distribution rights throughout the entire EMEA, the materials distributor said. Celanese’s Tynex filaments have also been added to the joint product portfolio, where Biesterfeld is to have exclusive distribution throughout the EMEA region with immediate effect, the company said.
A joint expansion in the ASEAN region between the two companies will continue, Biesterfeld noted. For this purpose, a new exclusive agreement has been reached for the Santoprene product family. In addition, current distribution rights by Biesterfeld for Celanese products in Brazil will be expanded to cover complementary product ranges, the German wholesaler said.
