German distribution company Biesterfeld (Hamburg; www.biesterfeld.com) says it has added five new POM types to its portfolio from the “Delrin Renewable Attributed” product line from DuPont (Wilmington, Delaware, USA; www.dupont.com).

The line features POM products whose production is based on mass balance certification and the use of “green” energy. Biesterfeld distributes the US company’s POM products in Brazil and the EMEA sales region, which includes Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

The new grades include Delrin RASC655 and Delrin RASC698, which were developed for the medical sector and are said to be particularly suitable for medical applications such as wearables, inhalers, and pumps, due to their mechanical properties and low coefficient of friction.

The other grades, Delrin RAFG511DP, Delrin RAFG500P and Delrin RAFG100, are said to be approved for food contact in accordance with EU Directive 10/2011 and have high fatigue strength over a wide temperature range, especially at low temperatures. The Hamburg-based distributor noted that food packaging is one possible application area for the materials.
