BIESTERFELD
TPU collaboration with BASF extended
Biesterfeld (Hamburg / Germany; www.biesterfeld.com) has become the exclusive distributor for BASF’s (Ludwigshafen / Germany; www.basf.com) “Elastollan” thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, extending their existing 20-year collaboration. The agreement covers central, western and southern Europe. “We’re delighted to be able to strengthen our strategic partnership with BASF. Elastollan is an important component of our portfolio of higher-grade technical TPEs,” said Claus Berger, Biesterfeld Plastic’s product manager.
Elastollan is said to be especially well-suited to challenging applications in a wide range of industries due to its high resistance to wear, abrasion and tearing along with its excellent tensile strength. For example, the TPE is used in automotive gear knobs, door handles and liner mats, in ski boots and sports shoes, in electrical connectors, cables and sleeves and in machine construction as a raw material for gears and transport systems.
