BIESTERFELD
Distributing Laurel Products' fluoropolymer additives across many European countries
Biesterfeld Spezialchemie (Hamburg / Germany; www.biesterfeld-spezialchemie.com), the speciality chemicals subsidiary of polymer and chemical distributor Biesterfeld (Hamburg; www.biesterfeld.com), has added the fluoropolymer additives of Laurel Products (Elverson, Pennsylvania / USA; www.laurelproducts.com) to its European portfolio. The German group will be handling the products’ marketing in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, The Netherlands, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Turkey, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
The range of micronised fluoropolymer additives based on polytetrafluoroethylene, fluorinated ethylene propylene and perfluoroalkoxy polymers is used in plastics, coatings and lubricants, among others. The agreement covers three families: the standard fluoropolymers marketed under the “Ultraflon” brand name, modified materials sold under the “Marzon” trademark as well as a mica fluorinated additive marketed as “Thor”. Laurel said the products are already selling “very successfully on the American market,” adding that the ranges have met with great interest in Europe.
