BIESTERFELD
Integration of Küttner subsidiary expected to aid performance rubber expansion
German distributor Biesterfeld Plastic (Hamburg; www.biesterfeld-plastic.com) said it is integrating its Küttner (Römerberg / Germany; www.kuettner-gmbh.com) subsidiary and expects the resulting synergies to help speed up the expansion of its performance rubber business. “In the future Küttner will act as an independent business segment within Biesterfeld Plastic,” it stated. “Thanks to potential synergies in purchasing, warehousing and logistics, operational and administrative processes will be optimised.” Biesterfeld acquired Küttner in January 2013.
Küttner’s sales team will mainly focus on the rubber processing market segments and wire and cable extrusion, whilst the Biesterfeld Plastic sales team will concentrate on the distribution of plastic materials.
Sascha Hennig, manager of the European performance rubber business and the Römerberg site, said the performance rubber business made a successful start to the expansion plans with the purchase of French rubber distributor Spécialités et Matières Premières du Caoutchouc (SMPC, Chartres) three years ago.
Biesterfeld said the performance rubber business now generates a turnover of more than EUR 30m throughout Europe.
