BIESTERFELD
Acquisition of French silicone compounder now complete
Biesterfeld France Produits Speciaux, the French subsidiary of German speciality chemical distributor Biesterfeld Spezialchemie (Hamburg; www.biesterfeld.com), has acquired French-based SMPC Production. Terms of the deal, which have been in effect since April, were not disclosed. Based in St. Ouen l’Aumone, just outside Paris, SMPC Production is a compounder for silicone elastomers and will keep its name and headquarters as part of the terms agreed.
Thomas Arnold, managing director of Biesterfeld Spezialchemie, commented: “The acquisition strengthens our capability in the silicone elastomer business and helps us meet customer requirements even more specifically. With this compounding facility in our organisation, we have expanded our own competence centre for the product group, which we can leverage across the entire European market. We are now on the way to becoming the top distributor for silicone elastomers in Europe.”
