Biesterfeld Plastic Europe (D-20095 Hamburg; www.biesterfeld-plastic.com) has been appointed single European polymers distributor for BP (GB-London; www.bpchemicals.com) except for the UK, the Republic of Ireland and Scandinavia. Along with distribution, the franchise will include logistics and packaging for polystyrene, polypropylene and polyethylene. According to BP, the move will “streamline and simplify” the distribution of its polymers across continental Europe, thereby improving customer service. Through mergers and organic growth, BP has inherited a large and extremely diverse set of polymer distribrution channels in various countries. This single agreement, to be phased during 2003, will “offer customers clarity and consistency,” said polymers commercial director Ian Wylie.
