BIESTERFELD PLASTIC
Plastics distributor grows sales despite lower polymer prices
Biesterfeld Plastic (Hamburg / Germany; www.biesterfeld-plastic.com) lifted sales last year to more than EUR 600m, after posting a figure of EUR 588m in the previous year. The Hamburg-based plastics distributor attributes the rise in turnover despite the lower polymer prices to its service-oriented offerings. "We offer our customers not only products but also solutions," said Thomas Arnold, Biesterfeld's CEO.
The Group, which, in addition to its plastics activities, also comprises Biesterfeld Spezialchemie and Biesterfeld International, posted sales of EUR 1.1 bn in 2015. This was about the same as in the previous year. The operating result, on the other hand, climbed by 24% to EUR 40.1m due to further development of the corporate structures and the product portfolio. The Biesterfeld Plastic division developed positively, too, a spokesperson told Plasteurope.com. Biesterfeld AG aims to continue along the path of growth in 2016 by focusing on geographical expansion and extending its product portfolio.
