BIESTERFELD PLASTIC
Full takeover of Spanish joint venture / Further acquisitions planned
Retroactive to 1 January 2007, Germany's Biesterfeld Plastic (Hamburg; www.biesterfeld-plastic.com) has acquired the 50% share formerly held by partner Chemieuro (Zaragoza / Spain; www.chemieuro.com) in the joint venture Biesterfeld Iberica (Barcelona / Spain).
Carsten Harms, managing director of Biesterfeld Plastic, said the transfer of ownership will not affect the day-to-day business of the company, which is one of the leading distributors on the Iberian Peninsula. Since the jv was established ten years ago, it has been an integral part of the Biesterfeld group, he added.
Biesterfeld Plastics' parent company Biesterfeld AG has said it plans additional acquisitions over the next few months to further strengthen the market position of its distribution subsidiary for plastics and speciality chemicals.
