New metallised BOPP film allows extended printing period
Sibur’s (Moscow / Russia; www.sibur.com) BOPP film subsidiary Biaxplen (Nizhny Novgorod / Russia; www.biaxplen.ru) has launched a new type of biaxially oriented metallised heat sealable film that allows consumers to apply printing within 30 to 45 days after the manufacturing date. The previous technology limited the guaranteed printing period to 15 days.
"If a consumer failed to use the film within 15 days previously, the surface activation capacity would drop significantly requiring additional technical treatment for the film to be used. The treatment, however, would not always succeed in restoring the original capacity,” says sales and marketing director Ilya Papusha. As well as extending the guaranteed printing period, the new film provides enhanced adhesion when laminated and has improved barrier properties, Biaxplen claims. The film, which is being sold at the same price as the previous version, also allows larger film batches.
Biaxplen is producing the film at its facilities in Kursk and Novokuybyshevsk. The company says the extended film activation period makes it possible to arrange shipments from these facilities to non-CIS markets.
