BF GOODRICH
The Netherlands chosen as site for new chlorinated PVC plant
US speciality chemicals group BFGoodrich Company (HQ: 3925 Embassy Parkway, Akron, OH 44333, USA) has selected Delfzijl, in The Netherlands, as the site for a new chlorinated PVC manufacturing plant. To be built at an existing chemical complex owned and operated by Akzo Nobel, construction will start at the end of 1996 and should be in production early 1998. The company refused to disclose the amount of investment or the capacity of the plant.
The resin, which is sold under the tradename "TempRite" is used for high-heat-resistant speciality piping and related products that are primarily used in plumbing, industrial pipe and fire sprinkler systems. Resin from the plant will be used to supply a new compounding operation that is being built at Oevel in Belgium. The compound plant is expected to be operational by Q2 1997.
