New Dutch EPS line to also process recycled material
Bewi (Trondheim, Norway; www.bewi.com) commissioned a new EPS line at its Dutch production site in Etten-Leur in December 2023. The highlight: the line, which can produce both EPS white and EPS grey, can also use recycled material for production in addition to virgin polystyrene. This allows Bewi to significantly expand its range with a sustainability aspect, said Alan Moss, head of the Raw production division. The supply of recycled material is expected to be secured by the sister division, Circular, which collects EPS waste throughout Europe.

The new line can produce up to 25,000 t of EPS per year. Bewi plans to double its capacity in Etten-Leur by 2030. According to Plasteurope.com’s Polyglobe database (www.polyglobe.net), Bewi already had capacity for 75,000 t/y of EPS based on virgin material at the Dutch site before the new line was installed.
