BEWI STYROCHEM
Commercial production of grey EPS started
After an extended test phase, BEWi StyroChem (Porvoo / Finland; www.bewi.com) began commercial production of grey EPS in July 2017. Tests are also currently under way on the graphite material that contains the "PolyFR" flame retardant, a spokesperson told Plasteurope.com. Some test customers are already using the flame-retardant material on a regular basis.
BEWi StyroChem produces grey EPS at its headquarters in Porvoo, with a current capacity of more than 12,000 t/y. Output for white EPS is around 100,000 t/y. In June 2017, BEWi expanded locally and acquired 60% of EPS insulation manufacturer Solupak (Tarvasjoki / Finland; www.solupak.fi).
