New R&D centre in Barcelona / Start of operations in Q3 2023
US packaging group Berry Global (Evansville, Indiana; www.berryglobal.com) has announced plans to open a research and development centre for sustainable packaging solutions in the Spanish city of Barcelona.

The facility, being called the Global Centre of Excellence and Circular Innovation Hub, is expected to start operations as early as the third quarter of 2023, according to the packaging manufacturer. The workforce will include more than 50 employees, it says.

Berry has more than 265 sites worldwide with 46,000 employees. In the last financial year 2021/22 (30.9.), the group generated a turnover of USD 14.5 bn (EUR 13.2 bn) and an operating EBITDA of USD 2.1 bn.
