US packaging manufacturer Berry Global’s (Evansville, Indiana; www.berryglobal.com) 20 litre “Optimum” large container – made from 35-100% post-consumer recycled material – has been awarded UN approval for carriage of hazardous goods assimilated with water.
According to the company, the container is a durable solution for the safe movement and storage of hazardous products, and is accredited to UN performance Y1.9/180. This makes it suitable for formulations with a density up to 1.9 and able to resist hydraulic pressure of 180kPa.
Back in 2019, Dutch packaging producer RPC Promens Insdustrial (Heerewaarden; www.rpc-promens.com) launched a PET container with UN certification for hazardous goods transport (see Plasteurope.com of 17.06.2019).
