After having closed down its Singapore-based production plant in early December last year, plastic closures producer Bericap (Budenheim / Germany; www.bericap.com) now announced that it has moved into its new plant in neighbouring Johor / Malaysia, located just across the border from the city-state. The new facility, whose nameplate capacity was not disclosed, will produce closures for food and beverage as well as other applications, targeting mainly the ASEAN market. All in all, the facility is expected to meet demand in more than 20 different countries.
Bericap said the Johor plant is part of its strategy to raise output and sales in the ASEAN region. One of Europe’s largest plastic caps and closures producers, the German company operates 22 plants in 19 countries as well as a network of licensees.
