Newly designed closures for the edible oil market that deliver both cleanliness and functionality have been introduced by German plastic closures manufacturer Bericap (Budenheim; www.bericap.com). "CTC IP 29/19" and "CTC IP 29/20" have a tamper evidence band designed for left and right-hand opening. The flip top is opened with the thumb and a second tamper evidence function in the form of a tear-off membrane safeguards product integrity, the company says.
After pouring, a non-drip lip keeps the neck clean from oil, ensuring the bottle remains clean. The two-piece closure is available in two different colours. The outside shell can be a different colour to the marguerite flow control inside. The new closure has recently been introduced by a leading filler of vinegar in Germany.
Meanwhile, the company’s experience in the manufacture of closures for the syrup market has led to the development of a closure fitting for the "PCO 1881" neck. Mineral water producer Aproz Source Minérale (Sion / Switzerland; www.aproz.ch/en) is now using the closure for its new flip-top products.
Aproz had already converted its bottles for mineral water and carbonated soft drinks to the PCO 1881 neck finish and using the same neck for its syrup product was a logical next step. Bericap developed the "HC EV 28/27" closure, which can simply be pressed onto the PCO 1881 neck. The essential functional features of the closure, such as the integrity of the product and proper pouring with a non-drip pouring lip, are retained.
