German plastics closure manufacturer Bericap (Budenheim; www.bericap.com) has begun production at its new facility in Singapore. The plant has been established to provide a direct service to the company’s customers in the ASEAN zone, which were previously served by a sales office and deliveries from Bericap China and other Bericap facilities.
Initially, production at the facility will be concentrated on closures for the non-food and non-beverage market, including a screw cap with folded tamper evidence band for the agrochemical industry that is difficult to copy and supports anti-counterfeiting measures.
Production of beverage closures is due to follow shortly. These include a hinge closure for bottlers of soy sauce which require anti-drip features, tamper evidence and a closure design allowing capping of hot filled glass bottles. The plant will also produce closures employing its one-piece “DoubleSeal” technology for carbonated beverages or hot filling, including the “DoubleSeal SuperShorty” recently specified by brewer Martens China – see Plasteurope.com of 14.01.2010.
