German water bottler converts to “HexaLite” 26 FB closures

Plastic closure producer Bericap (Budenheim / Germany; www.bericap.com) said Altmühltaler Mineralbrunnen is the first bottling company in Germany to convert its water lines to use Bericap’s “HexaLite” 26 FB closure for PET mineral water bottles.
German mineral water bottling company Altmühltaler Mineralbrunnen started converting its still water lines to use the HexaLite closures in November 2009, allowing significant resin savings, Bericap said. The conversion involved switching from a 26.7mm neck and corresponding closure solution to the new lightweight 26/22 neck, it added.
The 26/22 necks have already proved successful in North America, where conversions from 26.7mm necks began in August 2008, noted Bericap.
