Bericap GmbH & Co., with headquarters in D-55257 Budenheim, and Twinpak Inc. of Canada, a 100% subsidiary of Amcor Ltd. (Australia) have founded a joint venture to strengthen their positions in the North American plastic cap market. Each concern owns 50% of the newly formed company, Bericap North America Inc., which will officially open for business on September 1, 1997. The company's headquarters is located in Twinpak's existing 10,000 m² production plant in Burlington, Ontario. Its management has experience in plastic caps and its employees have been well trained. The initial turnover for the new company will be DEM 28m.

Twinpak Inc. is a leading manufacturer of plastic packaging, with 13 production plants in Canada and one in the U.S.A. Its range of products include PET bottles made with an injection blow moulding process, thermoformed polypropylene containers, blown plastic hoses, printed flexible packaging, intermediate bulk containers, and plastic caps. The production of plastic caps will be contributed to the joint venture.

The Bericap group – with 11 production plants, one of which is currently being built in Kunshan China – reports that it is developing into a global supplier of plastic caps for the food, beverage and chemical industries.

A recent press release stated that "the newly founded company, Bericap North America Inc., has as its strategy to build upon the Bericap group's patents and expertise and Twinpak's market position in order to develop its plastic cap business in North America."
