BENTELER-SGL
Acquisition of Fischer Composites / Austrian plant to be extended / Fischer remains true to skis
Benteler-SGL-Automotive-Composite (Paderborn / Germany) has acquired Fischer Composite Technology (FCT, Ried / Austria; www.fischer-ct.com), a subsidiary of ski producer Fischer (Ried / Austria; www.fischer-ski.com). The purchase price was not disclosed and the transaction is contingent on antitrust approval. The acquisition includes the FCT workforce of 90 employees. Benteler-SGL said it plans to extend the FCT production facility in Austria.
Benteler SGL is a joint venture of SGL Carbon (Wiesbaden / Germany; www.sglcarbon.com) and the automotive technology division of Benteler (Paderborn / Germany; www.benteler.com). It develops, manufactures and markets composite components, mainly based on carbon fibres (CFRP), for the automotive industry, B columns for example. FCT is an established supplier of composite components for automotive applications. Its product range includes exterior components such as sideblades, doors and visible carbon components for small-series automotive production.
Following this transaction and the planned divestment of aircraft components supplier Fischer Advanced Composite Components (FACC, Ried / Austria; www.facc.at), Fischer plans to focus on its core ski manufacturing business.
