Follow-up: French plant among those scheduled to be closed by year's end
A spokeswoman for US flexible packaging producer Bemis (Neenah, Wisconsin; www.bemis.com) has confirmed to Plasteurope.com that the group’s plant in La Trait / France is among those earmarked for closure before this year draws to a close. The facility, located near the city of Rouen, employs about 40 workers who manufacture mostly flexible packaging for displays. Bemis will also shutter five plants in the US and one each in Canada, Mexico and Brazil.
Bemis announced an expansion of its consolidation programme during its recent presentation of Q2 2012 results, which fell short amid lower unit volumes – see also Plasteurope.com of 24.08.2012. Aside from the facility in France, the group also operates plants in Elsham, Swansea and Campsey, Northern Ireland (all in the UK), Monceau-sur-Sambre (Belgium) and Valkeakoski (Finland).
