BELLAPLAST
Focus on cups and disposable crockery / Foam business abandoned
Bellaplast AG (CH-94450 Altstätten; www.bellaplast.ch) a packaging specialist with a focus on the European market, will concentrate on its core competence: drinking cups for catering and vending machines, disposable crockery and cutlery as well as ice-cream packaging. The company with exclusive rights for the distribution of its “c-fine” product line in Europe, plans to position its brand name in the top-quality segment. Calling the company “one of the most important players in Europe already” in the area of plastic cups for catering and vending machines, Mathias Lüscher, the company´s marketing and sales director, reported plans for a new, second production facility with an “extensive” output capacity to be built at the company´s Swiss headquarters.
In the wake of this new alignment, Bellaplast will abandon its foam business, which was formerly represented by Swisspack GmbH (D-83734 Hausham), an independent company. Due to the lack of a competitive edge in both the global and European markets, the company has decided to give up its co-operation with the producer of foamed packages for restaurants and take-away services. Lüscher pointed out that the matter is still under discussion and a final decision is still pending.
